Burn Ban

Welcome!

Brown County is excited to introduce its new jury selection system, Enterprise Jury Management, which gives you the opportunity to respond to your jury summons online! Transitioning from paper questionnaires to electronic will increase court efficiency and improve convenience for jurors such as online registration and notifications via text or email. We value and thank you for your willingness to serve, and your time devoted to the jury process.

Jury Summons Process

  • Official jury summons will be sent by mail as a postcard. The postcard will provide guidance regarding responding to the summons, when and where to appear, and will feature a QR code that links to our online response system.
  • Jurors will register within 10 days by completing an online questionnaire. Once registered, you will receive notifications and updates through email or text messages.
  • When completing the questionnaire, you will be able to:
    • Claim an exemption
    • Notify us of a disqualification
    • Request a one-time deferral of jury service (some deferments will require supporting documentation).
    • Opt to donate your service pay.
  • After completing the online questionnaire, you will be able to access the site to check the status of your jury service.
  • Jurors will still need to bring their postcard to jury service so that a clerk can scan your unique Juror ID barcode.

To access the online questionnaire, you must have your jury summons. Click the link below to begin.

The Significance of Jury Service

Jury service is a fundamental civic duty, ranking second only to the right to vote, and is a core element of the American Justice System. In accordance with the United States Constitution, jurors are selected impartially and randomly, without regard to race, gender, occupation, education, or economic status, to ensure a representative cross-section of the county's population. Jurors are selected throughout the county, regardless of precinct of residence.

The judgments delivered by a jury hold great importance, whether the case is highly complex, involving significant sums, or as straightforward as a traffic violation. Every juror must take their responsibility seriously to ensure a fair and just court decision. Responding to the summons for jury duty is a shared responsibility for all Brown County residents, contributing to the principles of our justice system.

SCAM ALERT: The Brown County District Clerk's Office does not contact individuals by phone regarding jury service. If you have received a phone call about any kind of penalty regarding jury service, please do not pay the penalty and please report it to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office at 325-646-5510.
